New No-Salt, Lowest-Sodium Barbecue and Grilling Cookbook.
Outdoor cooking without salt and with very little sodium.
Arrowhead Classics Publishing in cooperation with Megaheart.com Announces The Publication of The No-Salt, Lowest-Sodium Barbecue and Grilling Cookbook.
In 1997, Gazzaniga, who lives in Auburn, California created the first Web site devoted to helping thousands of people who had to cut salt out of their lives. (megaheart.com) His first book, published in 2000, The No Salt, Lowest Sodium Cookbook, helped to change the world of heart disease, which often meant a terminal diagnosis into one of survival and the reversing of heart disease. His work has also proved to help hundreds avoid a heart transplant, including one he was headed for.
This is the only no-salt cookbook available on the market specifically addressing outdoor cooking, including campsite cooking as well as backyard barbecuing. "It is the sixth in a series of no-salt cookbooks from author Gazzaniga, whose delicious, easy to follow recipes for everyday food contain 75% less sodium than that achieved by other low-salt cookbooks," states Frank Stevens, Senior Editor for Arrowhead Classics.
"The book, with a foreword by Dr. Michael B. Fowler, M.B., F.R.C.P, director of the Stanford University Heart Transplant Clinic and by television's well-known Sporting Chef Scott Leysath, contains more than 200 original no-salt, low-sodium recipes. The book is a standard size softcover with about three hundred and fifty pages according to Stevens. "It has a full spectrum of barbecue cooking from meats and fish to vegetables and more. You can put together complete meals with the recipes in this book. Gazzaniga also designed most of the recipes for either a barbecue or an outdoor griller at a campsite."
Gazzaniga is credited with being the first to produce cookbooks and a Website devoted to those who need to cut salt out of their lives in order to avoid heart transplants or simply to survive congestive heart failure. His program at megaheart.com is credited with saving thousands of lives. His Web site visitors and members include doctors, nurses, nutritionists and many other health field workers as well as thousands of heart and Meniere's Syndrome patients.
When Gazzaniga, the author of The No Salt, Lowest Sodium Cookbook series, was first diagnosed with congestive heart failure the prognosis was for a very short life unless he could have a heart transplant. Gazzaniga, a competition rower, writer and an accomplished amateur chef, began to develop recipes for everyday dishes -- even pizza, cake, and salsa -- but for a diet below 500 milligrams of sodium a day. After just a short period on his self-designed program, Gazzaniga was able avoid the transplant.
He has stuck to his program for 18 years now and actually reversed his heart disease, an unheard of event before his efforts.
Arrowhead Classics is publishing the book in print and in mobile versions. The mobile versions are expected to be available in about six to seven weeks, according to Stevens. Arrowhead's Press Catalog to booksellers stated that the No-Salt Lowest-Sodium Barbecue and Grilling Cookbook has been developed to respond to thousands of queries Gazzaniga has received during the past 18 years at his Website, megaheart.com.
